Servicing the Whedbee - Andrew Carruthers

A luthier's wood shavings

Andy Carruthers is awesome. I dragged my cello out to Santa Rosa last week to have him work on it, and now it sounds and plays better than it ever has in the past!

My cello is a 2000 Will Whedbee, and I think it's finally settled into stability. Andy re-scooped the fingerboard, shaved the bridge, and put in a new soundpost.

Shavings from my cello's fingerboard

The re-scooping of the fingerboard made me nervous because it looks like extreme change, but he knew what he was doing. ;)
