Family time in San Diego

Family portrait, December 2005 We had a family gathering in San Diego over the holiday season; two of my uncles and their families came into town for a few days.

Now that there are three "kids" at the adult dinner table (Wendy, Char, and me), we're finding dinnertime conversation to be interesting. My friends sometimes complain about having a generation gap between themselves and the older generation of their extended family, but at our table we have a generation gap, a culture gap, a religion gap, a language barrier, and sometimes, a sanity gap. I shouldn't write anymore here, for fear of getting in trouble. ;)

Anyway, it was a bit overwhelming, but as always, it was nice to be together under one roof, even if it was only for a few days.

I've decided that I don't want gifts anymore. Next year, I'm going to create a charity registry where people can donate to my favorite causes so they can feel like they've given me something I really want.
