Varanasi and the holy Gangas river
Brahmins lead an evening ceremony at the Ganga Seva Nidhi ghat
I am deathly afraid of the water in the Gangas river (or the Ganges, as we call it), but tens of thousands of people bathe in its waters every day. In Varanasi, the holy city, we saw a dozen bodies being cremated (bodies and ashes are dumped into the river) as well as thousands of people out celebrating as Brahmins performed a ceremony on stages at different ghats. More soon. Until then, I leave you with two more images.
