San Diego family visits

Wendy makes a wish upon her birthday candle
I have been in Southern California quite a bit over the past couple of weeks. Luckily, it all included a lot of family time. My mother was in town, visiting from Taiwan, and it was great to see her at Wendy's graduation and for a day during the gallery set-up. Photos follow.

My sister, the professor -- the photos

Wendy was hooded at USC a week and a half ago and will be moving to NYU at the end of this summer to become a professor. I'm so proud of her! I flew down to LA, just for the day.

San Diego and Los Angeles

I drove home to San Diego earlier this month, stopping in LA for a night to pick Wendy up. Mom was in town for three weeks, and it was really nice to get to spend some quality time with her and the rest of the (extended) family. Going to San Diego is mostly relaxing; we eat, play tennis, swim, watch movies. walk on the beach, and in general, just hang out. Jame and both sets of Lais came to visit as well.

I have to say that it was comforting to have so many people around because when I am in San Francisco, I live in relative isolation. If I don't call anyone, I sit around in my cave and work on the computer all day, with just a brief break for lunch, during which I walk around and stare at the people on the streets.
