YukChuk compost collector

YukChuk, installed

This isn’t really a future-dad thing, but I’ve been really happy with the YukChuk compost collector, which attaches to the inside of a cabinet (ours is under the sink). It seals well, never smells, and can be opened and closed with one hand. I’m totally sold on it.

Previously, we used the Exaco ECO-2000, a normal compost bin that uses a carbon filter to prevent smells, but it did end up smelling after awhile, and there was no way to keep it hidden + also operate it one handed.

(We are compost crazy here in the SF Bay Area. It’s mandatory in SF, but also makes sense outside of SF, especially since we now have yard trimmings every week.)
