A Superficial Canon 1Ds, 1D, and D60 Comparison
Comparison 1: Darth Maul, Candle, and Powerbook [back to index] [prev] [next] The three cameras were positioned on tripods in approximately the same location. Shots were fired in RAW mode and were converted using Adobe's RAW plugin using default (as-shot) parameters. This was an interesting experiment because we can clearly see that at the same distance from a subject the Canon D60 captures MORE detail than does the Canon 1Ds, at the same focal length. The 1Ds captures more detail than does the Canon 1D. Note that I'm defining "more detail" as meaning that there are more pixels if you crop in to capture the same element in the composition. For example, you shoot a shot of an apple with each of the three cameras and then crop each photo so that the apple fills the frame. The D60's apple will be the largest, in terms of pixel size, followed by the 1Ds, and then the 1D. |
