June 27, 2004 - Guayaquil (after Manta)

I woke up at noon this morning; I guess I needed the sleep! Galapagos guide and friend Antonio Moreano tooks us out to dinner last night; it was very nice to see him again. For much of today, Matt and I wandered around the local iguana park and the Malecon 2000, a fancy waterfront walkway with a large park and mall area. The locals really cannot handle Matt's blond dreadlocks! There aren't many tourists around in Guayaquil, apparently.

At 6pm we met up with Suzanne and went out to see the Galapagos IMAX (en Español!), which featured a lot of great footage of scalloped hammerhead sharks. I must say that it was refreshing to see footage of live sharks again after seeing so many dead ones over the past two days.
