| WAKATOBI, DEC 2003 - CEPHALOPODS | ||||||||
Cephalopods The 2nd Gully is home to multiple octopi. Going out there for night dives guaranteed views of them hunting. We also saw many cuttlefish along the local reefs. They were quite large, reaching maybe 18 inches in length, and would hang along the reef, adopting a defensive stance if we approached too close. The other group was fortunate enough to see a cuttlefish laying eggs! During night dives at Barracuda, we saw many smaller cuttlefish scooting along the sandy areas.
